As mentioned in my last blog post, more people stay at home and don't pay to go to the theatre to watch movies. Because of this the box office has experienced some decline in their revenue.
As demonstrated in http://www.the-numbers.com/market/ written by a popular data website, in 1990s the average revenue per year was around 12 and 13 billion, with ticks ranging from four to five dollars. But in 2017, the annual revenue is nine billion with the average ticket price to be nine dollars. So, you would expect the revenue to increase over time because of the increase in ticket price, providing more income. But because of Netflix and TV becoming essential to our lives, it has strained people from going to the movie theatre and now the money is going to monthly payments to online companies.
Not only is filmmaking being changed in ways of production, but also economically. As the years pass, most theatres will be going out of business due to people not willing to watch a movie on the big screen.
