Pros and Cons of Foreign aid

weforum.org

America spends a lot of money on aid abroad. obviously there are pros and cons in foreign aid. Sometimes helping foreign nations is essential in creating strong economic ties, but other times we dump taxpayer money into projects that are unnecessary. I will be using examples from visionlaunch.com a non bias source of pros and cons of political and economical issues and policies.

Foreign aid can be augured to be a moral right of devolved countries and sometimes necessary for human health in that country and globally as well. For example the Ebola crisis a few years ago could've have spread across  the world in the matter of weeks but because President
Obama made the Ebola epidemic in West Africa and the humanitarian crisis there a top national security priority for the United States. We helped stop the spread of that fatal disease by providing medical aid . Although foreign aid can be motivated by the unselfishness of a country it can also be for economic purposes. This type of foreign aid is called Monetary aid meaning loaning money to other countries in order for them to construct things such as  roads, buildings, telecommunications networks, and other types of infrastructure that can boost their economy and help them rise above poverty. Which will then introduce them into the global economy and mass trade can occur boosting our economy and theirs.

In a perfect world one would except foreign aid for people in need and make their lives easier. However we do not live in a perfect world. In same cases Monetary aid that has been sent to developed/undeveloped countries can be intercepted by corrupted leaders and tucked away into their own pocket rather than their peoples. Also in some cases foreign aid can stunt foreign nations growth.  Foreign countries can end up being dependent on the assistance provided by other nations and may even become knee-deep in debt, especially when they receive financial help in the form of loans.
